ARIADNE ON NAXOS
Ariadne, loving Theseus, helped him in every way,
To slay the Minotaur yet live, and so they sailed away -
To Naxos, whence in gratitude, our Theseus, so brave,
Continued on his way to Greece and left her in a cave.
Here Bacchus found her, all forlorn, and gave her love and wine.
Which miss would miss that fickle Greek when the option was divine?
