FEEDING THE CALVES
All art must have a unity, or that is my belief,
Easier with a leader - if the Indians have a chief
A leitmotif, or cyclical theme in music makes it whole.
Novels need a hero and drama a leading role.
Hokusai, an expert, liked to start with a dominant thump -
A whopping wave, a diagonal bridge, or nearby Fuji's stump.
Coincidentally-
This figure's strong, assertive bottom has made some people sneer,
But she gives the design a solid base - she's leading from the rear.
(On calf-feeding . . . You offer your fingers to the calf -it will suck them any day.
Lower them into the bucket and the milk goes on its way.)
The brainchildren of my creation are dipped in the Styx of imagination,
This I hope will lend appeal, though it leaves them with an Achilles heel.
On the other hand - when memory fails, it demonstrates that it's not real.
N.B. I've reversed the way the handles should fit on the pails!
