ICARUS MOURNED BY NEREIDS
Daedalus made feathered wings
with wax to hold them tight,
So he could claim (and his son too)
the earliest man-powered flight.
He and his son fled Minos
and the cruel regime in Crete.
But Icarus flew too near the sun,
whose unexpected heat
Melted the wax that held his wings
and plunged him in the sea.
